World Wildlife Day: 3 March
- On 20 December 2013, at its 68th session, the UNGA proclaimed 3 March, the day of signature of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
- Aim: to celebrate and raise awareness of the world’s wild animals and plants.
- The theme of 2018 : “Big cats: predators under threat".
International Women's Day: 8 March
➢ International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8 every year. It is a focal point in the movement for women's rights.
➢ Theme (2018): “ Time is Now: Rural and
urban activists transforming women’s
lives.”
CISF Raising Day :10 March
- On this day, in 1969, the CISF ( Central Industrial Security Force) was set up under an act of the Parliament of India
- It is directly under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs
- Its headquarters are at New Delhi.
World Consumer Rights Day: 15 March
- The World Consumer Rights Day (WCRD) commemorates the historic address given by the then US President John F Kennedy to the US congress on this day in 1962 .
- In his historic address he had outlined the definition of consumer rights for the first time.
- Theme 2018 : “Making Digital Marketplaces Fairer.”
World Water Day: 22 March
- UN General Assembly (UNGA) instituted this day by adopting a resolution in December 1992.
- The first World Water Day was celebrated on 22 March 1993.
- Aim : To spread message of preservation and rational consumption of water.
- Theme 2018 - “Nature for Water.”
Word Meteorological Day: 23 March
- The World Meteorological Day (WMD) is observed every year on 23rd March to mark establishment of World Meteorological Organization (WMO) on this day in 1950.
- World Meteorological Day has been observed on March 23 each year since 1961.
- Theme 2018 : “Weather-ready, climate-smart”.
World Tuberculosis Day: 24 March
- The date marks the day in 1882 when Dr. Robert Koch announced that he had discovered the bacterium that causes TB
- AIM :to raise public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic consequences of tuberculosis (TB) and to step up efforts to end the global TB epidemic.
- Theme 2018 - "Wanted: Leaders for a TB-free world”
