○ Became a Maharaja October 8, 1839
○ Able administrator and a soldier
○ Death: November 6, 1840 while returning from his father's cremation, masonry or stones fell from the gate of the Hazuri Bagh at Lahore Fort)

○ Nau Nihal Singh’s mother
○ became the Empress of Sikh Empire, from (1840–41) on the grounds that Nau Nihal Singh's widow, Sahib Kaur, was pregnant saying that she should assume regency on behalf of the unborn legal successor to her husband's throne
○ In July 1841, Nau Nihal Singh's widow Sahib Kaur delivered a stillborn son.

○ Occupied the throne: November 9, 1840 (for 23 days)
○ Dethroned: December 2, 1840
○ Sher Singh was killed by Ajit Singh Sandhawalia, his cousin
