National Maritime Day: 5 April

On this day in 1919 navigation history was created when SS Loyalty, the first ship of The Scindia Steam Navigation Company Ltd., journeyed to the United Kingdom

The NMD is being observed annually since 1964.

The theme of 2018 : “Indian Ocean-An Ocean of opportunity".



World Health Day: 7 April

World Health Organization

World Haemophilia Day: April 17

● It is an international observance held annually on April 17 by the World federation of Haemophilia established by Frank Schnabe Lloyd
● It was started in 1989; April 17 was chosen in honor of Frank Schnabel's birthday.
● Aim : It is an awareness day for hemophilia and other bleeding disorders, which also serves to raise funds and attract volunteers for the WFH.


World Heritage Day: 18 April

● It is an international observance held on 18 April each year around the world with different types of activities, including visits to monuments and heritage sites, conferences, round tables and newspaper articles
● It was proposed by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) on 18 April 1982 and approved by the General Assembly of UNESCO in 1983.
